Surgery and laser treatment of vitiligo

The treatment of vitiligo is a great challenge, due to the erratic evolution of this disease and to its enigmatic pathophysiology. The present study shows some types of treatments which can be used in order to obtain a pigmentation, although a definitive cure is still not possible. A group of 30 patients with stable vitiligo was treated using various techniques including phototherapy, excimer laser, dermoabrasion, mosaic surgery, skin grafts ormicropigmentation, isolated or in combination. The results were obtained after a 3 to 24 months follow-up. The results are variable, but they retrospectively allow to select the best indication for vitiligo treatment on an individual basis.
